I have lately been revisiting Homicide:Life on the Streets, season 4. There is a charming, lovely scene where Reed is interviewing a prostitute who is swimming naked in a motel pool. She asks him if he could hand her her robe and he holds it out to help her into it while averting his eyes. Once she has it on, this ensues.
She: You can look now.
Reed/Mike Kellerman: Ok. I never know. Where to put my eyes, I mean. It's confusing, you know. No, seriously, on the street, out in the world, you're not supposed to look. I mean, you do, but you ... you pretend you don't. And sometimes you're supposed to look, straight on, up and down. You know, get an eyeful and drop to your knees and say, "Halleluiah."
She: Brother, if I wanted you to drop to your knees, you'd know it. There wouldn't be no two ways about it.
Reed: I don't suppose there would.
They go on to have a lovely, poignant conversation in lounge chairs by the pool in the middle of the night about lost opportunities in life.
I keep hoping that someone would post a few H:LoTs eps on youtube, or wherever because their eps are really difficult to find. -_- and I've been hearing how wonderful it is and how it's ahead of its time.

Homicide is really good and it was very much ahead of its time. I broke down and bought seasons 4-6 on DVD because I couldn't find them anywhere.
It was another excellent moment when Reed told this other detective who was yelling at him and his partner to "Take a deep breath and then go spank yourself."
Some old pics I found on the internet that made me lol
I'll pick something random (because the Season 7 HLOTS DVD is in my laptop anyway) :)
I was a Homicide fanatic when I was 14 then bought the DVD set again this past Christmas to relive the magic. I discovered that not only was it still a great show and the spiritual predecessor of The Wire, but also that Reed Diamond was dreamy. Moreover, his character's arc from good cop to, uh, bad cop is incredibly compelling. I wouldn't ruin the ending, but the show wasn't the same after his character left in S6. The writers, sensing the imminent demise of the series, luckily brought him back for a double episode in S7 to tie up loose ends and redeem him somewhat.
Since I'm too ignorant to figure out how to embed photos, or because its past midnight, here's a few screencaps from that show from my scrapbook

It was awkward and charming.
