Ok ... trailer for F&B
We see Reed briefly and it seems that he and Malcolm McDowell don't see eye to eye with regard to Franklin and Bash (not surprisingly). It seems that it could be funny though, despite my hatred for lawyer shows and the whole Breckin Meyer debacle.
Here's the link.

There were a few parts that made me lol. And that's interesting. Frankly, when I was listening to the vid that I posted yesterday, I kept thinking 'why aren't they getting disbarred with whatever it is they're doing? Tamper with evidence? SERIOUSLY?'
But if this is a crackpot of a show, maybe Reed (and to some extent, Malcolm McDowell)'s character is the only sane man in the show?

You see, I had theory as to why no one seems to know Reed's and Garcelle's character's names. What if ... in the pilot, they are either on vacation together or away at a conference or seminar or something (and skipping the meetings or whatever to have sex). When they return, the F&B thing is a done deal--that could be interesting. Also, if the conference or whatever is something of a fling (when two friends just test the waters a little bit), they could both be regretting it a little bit.
I have two problems with out and out stealing his gf. One is that it makes Garcelle look like a flighty person (at best) with horrifically bad eyesight.:) Second is that it skews things too much. Here I am, look at me, I'm joining this lawfirm and winning every case and taking this schmucks gf too. There's no balance. To have a culture clash, the mavericks have to "win" sometimes and the conservatives sometimes.
And I definitely don't want Reed set up as the guy people aren't supposed to like (ala Laurence Dominic whom only those discerning viewer truly appreciated). I think it could be set up like Journeyman was--Kevin McKidd travels back in time and his brother is the skeptic--the character that skeptical people identified with. Here, you need the we're going to do this the right way person for that contingent of viewers who find F&B to be too over the top to have someone to look to.
I can't imagine Reed wanting to play a straight man to everyone else so I'm betting there's more to this character than meets the eye. TNT said (when they picked it up) that the show is populated with quirky likeable characters and I'm hoping that's true, because from what I've seen--this is going to be one of those shows that I'll endure for Reed if I don't like the supporting characters.
Disbarred, sanctioned, suspended--yes. In RL, F&B would be in serious trouble. And it might be interesting if Reed is the character who has to deal with the fall out to the firm of having these guys on board--judges who want no more of that in their courtrooms, furious opposing counsel and the like.
Going back to balance for a moment, the lawyers who are already at the firm have to be good too. It can't just be F&B coming in and showing them how it's done because that's just too unrealistic. The same goes for all opposing counsel. I'm curious to see how they do this. And this feeds in to your point of SOMEONE has to be more or less sane.
As to gf stealing, two can play at that game. I could easily see someone who F or B is interested in wanting a more mature man in their life and one that's as easy on the eyes as Reed just fits that bill.
As you can see, I've put far too much thought in this. The blue suit in the clip though (and a smile). Reed looks good in blue. Given the only two suits we've seen him in, it looks like they're going conservative. Black, blue (likely various shades of gray), white shirt, reasonable tie. Nice but conservative. All the more telling when he gets someone in his life that starts to influence his wardrobe to less conservativism--it'll be a dead giveaway.

I think this show's gonna be insane.

...a character played by Olivia Williams, perhaps? (AND YES WORLD, I WILL KEEP INSISTING ON THIS UNTIL YOU GIVE IT TO ME)

Could she be related to F or B? That could be fun!
